PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM

ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

Submit an enrollment and financial application for admission.

• Submit copy of photo I.D. (i.e., driver’s license.)
• Take the NET (Nurse Entrance Test)  ($20.00 fee required)

Applicant must score the minimum in Math (57), Reading (56), and Language (63).

Students achieving minimum passing scores on the NET will be scheduled for an interview with the Director of the Practical Nursing Program.

There are a limited number of spaces available in the Practical Nursing Program.  The applicant’s score on the NET, as well as the interview process, will determine acceptance into the Practical Nursing Program.

Once accepted into the Practical Nursing Program, students will need to do the following:

• Make financial arrangements and/or apply for funding from the various sources available through Compass Career College if student qualifies.
• Submit certified copy of Birth Certificate or U. S. Passport

3.     Scheduling fingerprinting process and criminal background check with Compass through Louisiana State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification and Information through Admissions. Forms available at Compass Career College ($10.00 money order made payable to Louisiana State Police for fingerprinting and $26.00 money order for background check)

4.     Submit CPR certification for Health Care Providers (must remain current while a student at Compass Career College).

5.     Submit Health certification from a licensed physician (note that physical cannot be performed by a nurse practitioner as per requirements of the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners -- see Compass Career College Medical Examination form

6.     Submit Immunization Record including the following:

• TB (Tuberculosis) Skin Test
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) 2 injection vaccine
• History of varicella (chicken pox) or evidence of varicella vaccine with titer to indicate adequate vaccine received
• Childhood polio vaccine
• Tetanus/Diptheria injection within last 10 years
• Hepatitis vaccine series with titer to indicate adequate vaccine received.
